Construction Wood Inspection
How sturdy is the wooden construction?
Stable inside, makes the outside safe
The examination of construction timber in timber, bridge and pile dwellings reveals weaknesses and safety risks.
We evaluate the inside of construction wood
Controls of construction wood in timbered houses, bridges and pile dwellings detect weak points and safety risks. Therefore, regular inspections are essential.
The problem:
Most of the defects or damages are located inside of wooden components and it’s necessary to carry out expensive investigations to detect and identify them.
With advancements in timber engineering, precise evaluation of building stability is becoming increasingly important. Depending on the specific demands of wooden structures, various factors must be considered, including static strength, impact strength, endurance strength, dynamic strength, hardness, and resistance to wear.
Our advanced instruments provide detailed insights into the internal condition of wooden structures. With quick and reliable measurements, you can assess the actual condition of timber components and ensure overall safety.
Frequently asked questions about „Construction Wood Inspection“
The wood inspection drill measures the force of the needle turning through the wood product. For example, when the bit hits any soft decay the force on the graph will drop and if the needle hits a hard, brittle decay the graph will spike. If the bit runs through a cavity area the graph will drop measuring no resistance for the bit. The measurements are then collected on either a wax paper strip (F-Series) or electronically recorded for an instant upload (PD-Series).
With the F-Series drill the measurements are recorded on a wax paper strip. Typically users scan the wax paper strip into their report reinforcing their assessment of the wood. The PD-Series drill records the measurements automatically in digital form and can instantly upload these results to your computer via Bluetooth or USB cable. Software is available for your computer to analyze and organize your collected results.

We really appreciate you and others in your office going the extra mile to get us trained, answer questions, get the equipment to us in time, and give us a fair price on the rental. We will definitely recommend IML to any others who need to buy or rent the equipment you have and will be using your services in the future. We have also let others in our Power sector know about the capabilities and they may be interested to use a drill as well.
We recently used the IML drills for our annual 69kV inspection. We own one drill and we leased another from IML. We could not ask for better customer service and support. Help was just a phone call away. We will definitely be looking to purchase another drill in the near future. Thanks again for your help through the inspections process.
As the Manager of Member Services for our Joint Action Agency, I can tell you that Amber and Kevin made the process of purchasing and training on the RESI PD-500 pain free. They are now an asset to our organization along with the pole equipment. I could not ask for a better experience and the drill has performed flawlessly since it was put into service.
We purchased the 400XL for testing trees in our community and so far it is all we expected. Communication throughout the entire purchase has been great and Bob was very helpful in the training of the operations. I was able to use it with no problem the first time with no major issues. Loading the paper was the most difficult.
I purchased IML RESI F300 machine for a wood structure assessment of a Yacht Club deck in BC, Canada. I had about 150 readings in two days and the machine worked for me PERFECTLY! The IML staff was exceptionally helpful both before and after we purchased the equipment. Overall, the equipment package and the service I received were beyond my expectations!
We at Nationwide Tree Service are super Excited about our tree inspection drills that we purchased from your company. I was really surprised to find out that no one in my area uses these drills. My drills have been making me money from day one. My customers are really impressed by the the data that the drills provide to them on the health of their trees. I’ve been told on several occasions the the customer choose my company just because of how impressed they were that we had the drills. A couple of these customers even spent several hundreds of dollars more just to go with my company. We think the drills are great, our customers are super impressed by them and they are already paying for themselves.
Very well pleased with initial start from the first call to get information on drill and to the follow up with our purchase seeing how we liked it. We here with the City of Raleigh really love our new drill. We have used the older version for years and find that the new technology drills are a great improvement. Good job IML North America.
I have been using Resistographs for over 15 years. In my field of work I am assessing the condition of wooden timbers in historical bridges, old warehouses, old mill buildings, marine pilings, and even utility poles. I recently upgraded to the IML PD300 and I am very happy. The drill is very similar to the prior generation of drills which used graph paper. The newer versions are operated using software and all the graphs are easily downloaded onto my computer and can be included into my technical reports as PDF’s. The drill itself operates at a faster speed than the prior generations giving me the ability to collect more data during an inspection. This is a very effective non-destructive tool for assessing wooden timbers, pilings and poles. – Matt Anderson, Wood Science Consulting.
IML and its staff are without question, the most knowledgeable and helpful service industry professionals I’ve ever worked with. Their company sets the example for all others within the industry. Having worked with them on several occasions over the past few years, I have yet to be disappointed. The level of service we receive as a small utility contractor, is what you’d expect an international corp. to receive. IML has earned a life-long customer and proponent.
I recently got trained on the PD-500 at their NH facility. The training was great. Everyone was very knowledgeable and friendly. It looks to be a great tool that we are excited to start using. Thanks.
When I arrived at IML in NH Bob, Kevin and Amber made me feel very comfortable with their products. They gave me a thorough training about the F-500 resistograph. I bought a used F-500 that had been completely refurbished. They in no way pressured me to buy the more expensive models. However. If the need arises I may upgrade. I can see that the product is at the highest quality. They also told me that they were available anytime to answer my questions, giving me their direct lines. When I buy expensive items most of the time I feel like I got ripped off, but after the experience at IML I felt like I got a great deal and I am excited with the future possibility of the product.”
I purchased an F-Series drill to use for inspecting decay in trees from IML. They were very friendly throughout the process and did not try to push me into any one of there products. Amber took time to get to know what I would be using the drill for and what would fit my budget. I ended up purchasing a refurbished drill and when it arrived I was surprised how clean and new the drill looked. If you told me the drill was new I would have never known. I did end up having an issue after drilling my second hole. I emailed Amber and she got back to me quickly and had the shop call me on the phone at a time that worked for me and I was able to fix the issue quickly and easily myself. They have offered many times to do training on the drill both over zoom/facetime or in person. I could not be happier with my experience with IML and their commitment to the tree care industry
